Each year, South Portland's community of skaters, artists and musicians take to Exchange Street in Portland for a special event, and this annual activity will soon welcome attendees.
Dubbed “Cobble to Cobble”, the street will be closed off to vehicle traffic during the gathering, and the celebration will run for six hours. It will be followed by an afterparty, and several local businesses have signed on to provide financial and other support.
The festivities, which are being organized by Mocean Skateboards as well as PortlandOldPort.com, will convert the cobbled street into a popup style skate park. Area skaters can show off their best tricks on the contests that have been planned, and cash prizes will be presented. An artists’ alley will showcase local talent, and vintage clothing vendors have also been invited to participate. The after party will be held at Cuties all day bar, which can be found at 46 Market Street in Portland.
Street parties and other outdoor events may take place regardless of the weather, which means that any tenting, displays and other materials will need to be able to stand up to the elements. A poster printing company can provide a range of options, ranging from pop-up canopies to weights to help hold everything down on a breezy day.
Cobble to Cobble will bring the area's skateboard community together on September 27th. It will begin at 12:00 pm.
