Summerfest returning to Gaithersburg

Gaithersburg will celebrate Summerfest during the nation's birthday.

The community will gather at Summit Hall Farm's Bohrer Park for family fun. There will be food, live entertainment, glow sticks, balloon animals, and activities for all ages. Kids can go swimming, play on the playground, or have their face painted.

At the end of the night, officials will set off a special fireworks show before starting the SummerGlo After Party. The address of the park is 506 South Frederick Avenue. Last year, entertainment included illuminated performers and lady liberty on stilts.

Guests are asked to keep all skating, biking, and rollerblading in the skate park area, and are advised that smoking and vaping in public areas is not allowed. Coolers can be brought, but no alcohol from outside the park, glass, or weapons are allowed.

Guests can bring their dogs with them provided they are kept on a leash, but because of the expected crowd at the event and the inclusion of fireworks, officials advise against this.

Food, nonprofit, and political vendors can fill out an application to reserve a space and hand out Promotional Products. This can be found on the event's page on the city's website, https://www.gaithersburgmd.gov/recreation/special-events/summerfest

Summerfest will be on July 4 from 5:00 pm - 11:30 pm. In case of rain, Summerfest will take place inside the park's activity center on the same day, and fireworks will be delayed until the following day.
