Several local agencies, including Solar United Neighbors, are offering a workshop in Gaithersburg to discuss the benefits of joining the Montgomery County Solar Co-op.
The event is targeted towards small business owners and homeowners. According to the Sustainability Coordinator in Gaithersburg, Dyan Backe, the community is interested in seeing the work on offering more renewable energy efforts. He commented on “greening the grid.”
Solar United Neighbors operates across the United States and focuses on the interests and needs of both solar supporters and solar owners. The event also has sponsorship from organizations from other communities, like Takoma Park, Poolesville, and Rockville, as well as the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection.
According to Backe, the event is designed to help residents learn more about the benefits of solar power, both for their wallets and for the environment. They will also learn more about co-ops and how collective buying power can help both business owners and homeowners save money switching to solar.
Community organizations hosting big events often use a number of printing options to connect with participants. Brochure printing or Presentation Folders can be used to create take-home information that attendees can look over at their leisure, for example.
The event will be held on January 23 at the Casey Community Center on South Frederick Avenue, and is free to attend.
