The new restaurant will be serving food cooked by a renowned chef who used to work in Napa Valley. Originally constructed in 1800, Olney House was acquired by Thomas Zippelli in 2019 with the initial goal of opening the restaurant back in 2020. The project faced setbacks due to COVID-related delays, extensive renovation requirements, and adherence to historic property standards.
Working in close collaboration with county authorities and the historic society, Zippelli ensured that the original design of the building was preserved throughout the renovation process. The building underwent a complete gutting and reconstruction to fix structural concerns. This included a brand new porch that matches the original appearance. In a statement, Zippelli commented:
“The Olney House is an important part of Olney’s history, and we’re honored to have had the opportunity to restore it. We’re excited to see the community embrace the new Olney House and look forward to serving our guests.”
Zippelli also runs other notable restaurants in Maryland, such as the Turn House and Maggie's. He also boasts a background that includes working at Eleven Madison Park in New York. Printing services could be used to Print a new restaurant’s menu.
