Montgomery police ask residents to help give back to the community

The Montgomery County Police Department is planning its annual blood and food drive.

Those who are able can come to the first floor conference room in the Public Safety headquarters in Gaithersburg to donate blood. The Red Cross is managing this part of the event and has an online signup form for making appointments, but walk-in donors are also welcome.

Food coupons and food for those who donate blood will be provided by Chick-fil-A, Bruster’s Ice Cream, and Buffalo Wild Wings.

Residents can also show their support by donating food items of a nonperishable nature, which will be given to the Food Pantry, named for Captain Joseph Mattingly who died in the line of duty several years ago. Those who are in need of food from the Pantry can make an appearance there on Mondays and Wednesdays between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, and on Thursdays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm to pick up donated food items.

The blood and food drive will be held tomorrow, June 2 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Most likely, the Montgomery Police Department has turned to a variety of Print companies to help with the printing of Flyers, billboards, and Posters encouraging participation from the community in donating blood and food items as well.
