Five teachers in Montgomery County, which includes the city of Gaithersburg, were recently awarded the Marian Greenblatt Excellence in Education Award. This award is presented to teachers who inspire and encourage success for their students.
The Fund is managed by the family of Dr. Marian Greenblatt who served on the Board of Education in Montgomery County from 1976 to 1984. As an advocate for the students, Dr. Greenblatt worked to enhance the educational experience in many ways, including initiating measures to decrease class size, cut down on truancy and increase the budgets for educators.
This award is something to be proud of and recipients of this award could use business card printing services to add this achievement and its Logo Design onto new Business Cards. This year’s winners join a long list of teachers who have received this honor since the Fund was established in 1989.
Three teachers received the “Master Teachers” honors, which is presented to those who have over five years of service in Montgomery County. Awards went to Teak Bassett from Clarksburg High School, Madeline Hanington from Hallie Wells Middle School and Maura Backenstoe from Burning Tree Elementary School.
Two awards were presented to “Rising Star Teachers”. This year the awards went to Brendan Kelly from Albert Einstein High School and Virginia Pantella from Gaithersburg Middle School.
A ceremony will be held in April to honor the recipients. One of the winners will be chosen as the Montgomery County Teacher of the Year.
