Montgomery County gives out free gym passes

Montgomery County’s department of recreation would like to help its residents stick to their new year weight loss plans by giving them free fitness passes.

The passes will give people living in Montgomery County cities, including Gaithersburg, access to gym facilities. They will be able to use game rooms, fitness rooms, and open gym equipment at any of the county’s 22 recreation facilities. The only limitation with the free pass is that the users will not have access to the aquatic centers. Stationery printers can be used to produce access passes like these.

A news release stated how the fitness pass will make it easier for residents to exercise at locations close to their homes and offices. A release from Executive Marc Elrich also said:

“As we head into the new year and many are renewing their fitness goals, I encourage our County residents to take advantage of these great spaces. Make sure to head to a recreation center near you to check out all they have to offer.”

In order to get their hands on a free pass, residents only have to produce proof of residency such as a current utility bill, or photo ID with an address on it. Residents can sign up online for a pass that will be valid for the whole year. Non-residents can get a yearly pass for $150.
