The redevelopment of Kentlands Market Square in Gaithersburg will include the addition of a luxury cineplex.
The company that acquired Kentlands, Kimco, has announced a contract with Cinepolis USA, which will bring the first Cinepolis location to Maryland.
The 250,000 square foot shopping center is anchored by Whole Foods, and is undergoing extensive redevelopment. Kimco has stated that it acquired Kentlands because of its redevelopment potential, which is expected to continue over several years. The Cinepolis is expected to open in 2019.
The luxury theatre will include many exciting additions for patrons, including leather seats that fully recline, liquor, wine and beer service, a lounge in the lobby, and gourmet meals with in-theater waiter service.
Kimco owns over 500 properties and the most open-air shopping locations. In the Washington area, it owns more than 20 locations, including Shops at District Heights, Dulles Town Crossing, and Pentagon Center. The Kentlands redevelopment will include improvements in pedestrian access, a revitalized Market Street, and increased overall density. Boutiques, cafes, and other stores will line the main street of the center.
When this sort of open-air market is under redevelopment, many companies use Banners to alert customers to the project’s redevelopment phase. Custom printing can also be used to create Signs that show artistic renderings of the finished project, or the timeline for redevelopment.
