Latin American eatery to come to Gaithersburg

Boca Botanas Tapas Bar in Gaithersburg is planning to open this month and is currently working on the finishing touches to its grand opening.

The eatery is located at 239 Muddy Branch Road, the former home of Pho Bistro, a Vietnamese restaurant, and is part of the Festival Shopping Center in Gaithersburg.

According to Michael Alexander of Gaithersburg, the owner of the restaurant, after traveling through Latin America, his passion for food and the culture enticed him to open the restaurant. He adds that it will offer a mix of Central and South American cuisines in a Spanish tapa style, and that there will unique cocktails and Menus of beer and wine pairings.

Alexander originally was planning to open the restaurant in mid-December. However, his liquor license was not granted by Montgomery County until December 3. In addition, construction of the eatery is being completed by Alexander himself with the help of his father and friends, who work when they are able to do so.

The restaurant will be about 1,500 square feet in size. Employees are being hired and will undergo training very soon, Alexander said.

The grand opening is scheduled for January 16. The use of banner printing companies to create Banners and other promotional materials may be one way that Alexander can get the word out about his venture.
