Holiday festival to light up Gaithersburg
One of Gaithersburg’s biggest holiday traditions, the Winter Lights Festival will return this November, allowing visitors to walk, run, or drive through a festive lights display.
The display stretches through 3.5 miles of the scenic Seneca Creek State Park, featuring hundreds of different illuminated displays. The main thrust of the festival is aimed at vehicles looking to enjoy a holiday lights ride. Visitors can tune into 97.1 WASH FM for festive music during the experience. Attendees must purchase tickets in advance, with a limited number of cars per night to ensure a smooth experience.
In addition to the drive-through experience, there will also be a number of “Enchanted Evening” events in the weeks leading up to the full opening. Visitors can enjoy food or drink under the lights as part of the S’More Lights and Sip & Sparkle Events. The Winter Lights Festival will also be hosting a 5-kilometre “Run Under the Lights” run, where visitors can challenge themselves to run or walk across the festival’s full distance. The run is hosted by the Montgomery County Road Runners Club, which will be providing custom race gear. Runs like this often offer special promotional products or giveaways to provide a trophy or memento of the occasion.
The 2024 Winter Lights Festival will take place at Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg from November 24 to December 31.
