Gaithersburg restaurant to switch to American-style tavern
The Boulevard Tavern will be the new name for the Brasserie Beck in Gaithersburg, so that the Robert Wiedmaier Restaurant Group can change its concept to an American tavern.
According to Chef Robert Wiedmaier, what was once a restaurant offering fine dining in a Belgian style will now have a more American casual dining concept that will make it more attractive to local diners. The conversion is taking place while the restaurant remains open, and will be fully operational before the end of this month.
Average prices for entrees and a drink will be reduced from $45 per person to between $30 and $35 per person. There will also be more American craft beers than Belgian beers.
The new menu has been created by Chef Matt Newland and Brain McBride, partner of the RW Restaurant Group. It will feature chicken wings, burgers, and Maryland crab cakes, while the signature mussels of Wiedmaier will stay on the menu.
The River Falls Tavern in Potomac was recently acquired by the restaurant group. Frank Shull, a partner in the group, said this new concept will more fully align with that of the River Falls Tavern and make it more family friendly.
Most likely, the restaurant group is turning to flyer printing companies to create flyers to be placed in the restaurant so current diners can learn about the change and also spread the word in the community.
