Bibliophiles in Gaithersburg and the surrounding areas are getting ready for the Eighth Annual Gaithersburg Book Festival.
The all-day event features a variety of activities, presentations, and workshops, all surrounding the written word and a love of literature.
One of the largest literary festivals in the region, over 100 different authors will be on hand at the event, talking about their genres, work, and process, as well as signing Books for visitors. Authors include E.L. Jefferson, Brian Parker, Joreen Y. Sykes, Nick Newlin, and Cara Via.
A number of Print companies, book stores, and publishing houses will also be there, presenting their work and talking about the print industry. Additionally, workshops on writing will be held for both adults and youth, roviding a number of perspectives, including writing résumés, short stories, and novels.
A children's tent is being set up with a number of activities meant to stimulate creativity and a love of reading. A short story contest is also being held for teenagers, which has been narrowed down to 11 entries. The winner will be announced at the celebration.
The Gaithersburg Book Festival will be held tomorrow, May 20, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at Gaithersburg City Hall, located at 31 S. Summit Ave. Admission is free to the public. Anyone looking for more info should visit the website.
