The city of Gaithersburg will be holding its annual SportsFest event this July, highlighting and raising money for children’s sports.
The free event will kick off with a 3K Run Fundraiser that all can participate in. Runners will take on a scenic three-kilometer course across a mixture of pavement and field. Money raised will go towards the City of Gaithersburg Youth and Teen Sports Programs. Participants who register early will receive a commemorative City of Gaithersburg Sports t-shirt. Athletic events often turn to Print shops or Apparel outlets to create shirts, jerseys and other keepsake items. Registration is required in advance.
After the run there will be a short celebration and the opening of a lineup of sports challenge stations for children in the K-8 range. Sports on offer include soccer, track and field, and basketball, in addition to an inflatable obstacle course. Kids who complete challenges will receive T-shorts and prizes while supplies last. The official Gaithersburg Sports mascot “Coach G” will also be in attendance. The events are designed to emphasize participation and skill development over competition, and help get children interested in sports and physical activity during the summer months.
The 2025 Gaithersburg SportsFest will take place on the morning of July 12 in Bohrer Park at Summit Hall, with indoor activities available in the event of rain.
