G-PARC holds second photo contest

The Department of Parks, Recreation & Culture, in collaboration with the Alliance for Parks of the Gaithersburg Parks, Arts and Recreation Corporation (G-PARC), is excited to announce its Second Annual Photo Contest.

The contest aims to highlight the finest aspects of Gaithersburg's Parks, Arts & Recreation. Contestants are required to submit photographs that capture the interrelation between parks, arts & culture, and recreation in the City, with the added requirement that the photos need to be taken in a park in the city. Participants can submit photos that fall under the themes of either Outdoor Activity, The Natural World, Lovely Landscapes, or Art in our Parks.

By the end of May, the 12 best photographs will be revealed. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges, consisting of local artists, G-PARC members, and representatives from the Gaithersburg’s Communication & Public Engagement.

Throughout this month, G-PARC is selecting a winner at random every week. All winners will be announced on Instagram and Facebook by G-PARC, so should look out for messages on their social media. The primary goal of the competition is to enhance G-PARC's social media visibility by using photo submissions that showcase the City's parks and recreational activities.

The photos will be presented on the G-PARC social media accounts and may be showcased at specific local galleries during this summer. The City may all utilize a few chosen photographs in its printed and digital publications, so they may become part of future brochure printing orders.
