Each year, members of the community are invited as celebrity guests of the Metropolitan Ballet Theatre (MBT) Company and are given roles in the production.
Wu will also be joined by Montgomery County Council President Nancy Floreen, Melanie Alnwick of Fox5, local football coach John Kelley from Quince Orchard High School, and The Great Zucchini, a children’s entertainer.
The Metropolitan Ballet Theatre’s annual production also ensures that all children who audition are allocated a role. This year’s cast has almost 100 dancers.
Ella Rommel, who is 14 years old and will be performing for the eighth time in The Nutcracker, said:
“I love how The Nutcracker brings people together…I love that we (MBT) bring so many people together no matter what your size or your age.”
The Metropolitan Ballet Theatre also has an outreach program, taking performances to places such as Ring House in Rockwell, a senior citizen assisted living facility.
Interested parties should check their Calendars as there is still the chance to see the Metropolitan Ballet Theatre production, as performances continue with three more shows over the next three days (December 9 to 11). These will be at the Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center at Montgomery College.
