KFC once served out of a location on 426 N Frederick Road, but a new fried chicken dealer is taking over the spot.
KFC left the location in Gaithersburg in December 2020. The new business taking over the spot is Pollo Campero, which is a fried chicken chain that was first opened in Guatemala. The chain’s first store opened in 1971 and now has more than 400 locations all over the world, along with 70 in the US. Menu options for new eateries can be shared using brochure printing.
Ever since KFC left its previous location, the building has been cordoned off. Construction has been taking place on the site since then to prepare it for the new tenants. The building’s exterior has recently been repainted in prepation for Pollo Campero’s move in. The company has not released any kind of timeframe for when the new branch will open, although tentative estimates are aiming for the summer.
Pollo Campero has restaurants open in Wheaton, Takoma Park, and at the Lakeforest Mall one mile away from Gaithersburg. There was also previously a restaurant in Silver Spring, although it shut down in March. The outlet at Lakeforest Mall is still open at present, although MocoShow.com predicts it will be one of several stores to leave the Mall in the near future.
