Book festival returns virtually for 2021

The annual Gaithersburg Book Festival (GBF) returns for its 11th year, with a new all-virtual format. Open to adults and children, the event strives to instill a passion for reading and writing in all attendees.

The month-long festival will feature live Featured Author presentations on the new GBF YouTube channel. Attendees should subscribe to the channel, and will be able to view any presentations they missed, for at least 30 days after the live presentation. A full presentation schedule is available on the GBF website, and Facebook and Twitter will be providing last-minute updates and programming reminders.

Featured Books and authors will be included from many genres, including fiction, non-fiction, mystery, science fiction, graphic novels, poetry, children’s and young adults. There will also be many writing workshops offered throughout the month, with content available for both children and adults. Visit the festival website for a complete list of authors, featured books and workshop topics.

The book fair is funded in part by the city of Gaithersburg, but sponsors are an important part of making this festival possible. Many of the sponsorship packages include the featuring of the company Logo Design, and a hyperlink to their homepage, on the GBF website, online newsletters, and advertisements.

The festival was first introduced in 2010 by then councilman, now mayor Jud Ashman. Today, the book fair attracts hundreds of popular, well-known authors and poets from across the nation. More than 20,000 people are expected to attend the event.

The Gaithersburg Book Festival will open on Saturday, May 1 at 9:00 AM. Registration in advance is required to attend the writing workshops.
