The Latino Art League and the City of Gaithersburg are working together to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with an exhibition that features the diverse talents of the Washington DC-based group.
The exhibition opened yesterday at Bohrer Park’s Activity Center, located on South Frederick Avenue. An Artists Reception will be held later on this month, at which the public is invited to meet the artists and learn about their creative process.
TLAL has offered exhibits in conjunction with Gaithersburg for the last three years. The League is committed to both supporting artists within the Latino community of DC, and also creating relationships with communities of Latin American artists overseas. As an example, an art competition was held by TLAL in Villa El Salvador, a Peruvian town, and the 10 high school students who won the competition will be featured in the Gaithersburg exhibit.
TLAL was founded in 2015, and works to promote and expose the art of its members, creating specific representation for their community.
Open until November 12, the exhibit’s viewing hours will be from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm from Monday through Saturday, and 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday. The Artists Reception will be free to attend and open to the public, and will be held on Thursday, September 21 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
