New manufacturing plant and HQ open in Devens
Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions has opened its North American headquarters here in Devens. This will also be the company’s first manufacturing facility in the United States.
Such new centers often turn to stationery printers as new letterheads, business cards, and other corporate materials need to be printed.
Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions is a manufacturer from Britain that builds fluid path technologies, including positive displacement pumps. The new headquarters and manufacturing plant span 150,000 square feet and will create close to 150 new jobs in the area.
The ground was broken for the construction in 2021. ARCO National Construction, New England, based in Framingham, was the builder.
Watson-Marlow said that one of the reasons for locating in Devens was tax incentives on which it received help for negotiating and leveraging from Business Development Strategies, Inc., which is a leading government tax incentive consultant with an expertise in real estate expansion projects.
The other reason was the sustainability goals of the state. Director of United States Supply at Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions, Christine Harrington, said that the goals Massachusetts has for sustainability line up with the efforts of Watson-Marlow. Harrington added that the facility is LEED Gold Certified and will have a solar array covering the roof, which will provide close to 70% of the power supply of the facility at peak times.
