Requests for proposals have been issued by MassDevelopment in search for developers to build new housing in Devens.
The site covers 69.3 acres and is considered a way to support economic growth in the central and northern part of Massachusetts, as well as to increase residential options.
The project will include two areas zoned for residences at Adams Circle totaling 6.6 acres. This is an expanding neighborhood within walking distance of the local amenities and commercial center of Devens. The project will also encompass approximately 62.7 acres along Grant Road, enabling the expansion of one of the community's largest residential neighborhoods.
Housing types potentially included in the proposal can be townhomes, single-family homes, multifamily buildings, and duplexes, offering a range of price points and sizes of units, including options for both ownership and rental. News of such proposal request can be disseminated throughout a community with flyer printing.
Navjeet Bal, CEO and President of MassDevelopment, said the agency sees Grant Road and Adams Cricle as an ideal opportunity to bring more economic growth and housing to Devens. Bal added that his agency looks forward to working with developers to make the most of this opportunity. Eric Paley, Economic Development Secretary, confirmed that these sites will help deal with the housing shortage in the region and support employers competing for talent.
