Operations officer appointed in Devens

Michael R. Sweeney has been named by MassDevelopment as executive vice president of Devens operations.

He will serve as the top official in Devens for MassDevelopment. His responsibilities will be to oversee important municipal functions, including recreation, public works, public safety, and utilities and will join the executive leadership team of the agency. Business card printing servciues are often called upon when such appointments are announced.

Sweeny has more than 10 years of experience in public service, economic development, community planning, and real estate. His most recent position was CEO of Operation Able and he has held leadership positions with the City of Lawrence, the Office of the State Treasurer, and the Massachusetts State Lottery.

The chair of the board of MassDevelopment, Eric Paley, said that with Sweeney’s string background, they are looking forward to working with him to ensure that Devens will continue to grow and develop as a center for housing, jobs, and opportunities in the region.

The president and CEO of MassDevelopment, Navjeet Bal, said that Sweeney has valuable experience that he brings to the community so it can continue to strengthen partnerships across the region and deliver high-quality services.

Sweeny expressed his excitement about joining the team of MassDevelopment is looking forward to partnering with local officials, members of the community, and business leaders to uphold and advance the longstanding tradition of excellence at Devens.
