Fusion company in Devens receives additional funding

Additional equity financing of $1bn has been raised by Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) in Devens.

This funding is in addition to the $863m the company raised last year, which now means the company has raised a total of $4bn. This funding will reinforce the position of CFS as the leading and largest fusion company in the world.

The funds will be used by CFS to expedite its commercialization. The company is working to move forward with the development of the first fusion power plant at grid scale, while also completing the assembly of its fusion demonstration machine, named SPARC. The power plant will be the Fall Line Fusion Power Station of the company in Chesterfield County, Virginia.

Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of CFS, Bob Mumgaard, said:

“CFS is making what once was impossible into inevitable. In the 2030s, we will put commercial fusion on the grid.”

He added that the company has both the knowledge and execution, as proven and validated consistently by the market. He invites investors from around the world to visit its headquarters in Devens so they can see tangible and real progress as the company works to finalize its commercialization process.
