The Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded a grant in the amount of $46.3m to Electric Hydrogen for its rapid technological advancements in electrolyzer manufacturing.

The funds will be used by the company to scale its advancements in manufacturing at its gigafactory in Devens. The new proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer factory will be one of the largest in the world, coming with a capacity of 1.2 gigawatts per year. Its production lines will have high turnover throughout and will run at a low cost, making them able to make high-quality and reliable electrolyzers in large volumes in a way that meets the growing demand of this modern industry.

Banner printing is often used at such sites to inform those in the area of monetary awards and the subsequent developments they have made possible.

David Eaglesham, chief technology officer, said that his company was honored to be selected for this grant, and added that he sees this as an endorsement of the company’s team and technology. He expressed his thanks to the DOE and the administration for supporting domestic manufacturing of electrolyzers, ensuring that the United States stays a competitive global player in this sector.
