Childrens Hospital to host virtual walk

The Eversource Walk for Boston’s Children Hospital, also known as the Walk for Kids, will be adopting a virtual format this year and reaching out to potential participants in the Boston area, including areas like Canton and Cambridge.

The walk is typically held as a mass event, bringing together members of the hospital community including patients, families and employees, as well as charitable volunteers. This year’s virtual format, however, will offer greater flexibility. Over the course of a week, participants can walk around their neighborhood or house, or get more creative with events like an obstacle course or dance party. The goal is to raise money for the hospital and help their research into childhood diseases. Organizers have provided remote fundraising ideas such as matching miles for a certain amount of money, or conducting a virtual fitness class in exchange for donations.

The community aspect will be maintained through a virtual celebration at the end of the week, hosted on the event’s Facebook page. Participants will be able to share photos and videos of their walk, whatever form it took, and perhaps connect with old friends. Charitable walks and runs like these, often advertised through flyer printing and banner printing, can be a crucial part of nonprofit organizations’ funding.

The virtual Walk for Kids invites participants to record their walks any time or place from June 6 to 14, and participate in the online celebration on June 14.
