Chamber and real estate group to hold housing event

The Metro South Chamber of Commerce and the New England Real Estate Journal (NEREJ) are hosting a half-day summit this fall.

The first hour of the event will be devoted to networking time and a light breakfast. Attendees often exchange Business Cards during this type of networking breakfast. Eric Shupin, the Chief Executive Officer of Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA), will give a keynote talk. CHAPA works on housing access and affordability. Shupin has previously worked as the group’s public policy director and at the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities.

After the keynote, there will be a panel discussion featuring experts with a variety of perspectives on housing. It will include speakers from the City of Taunton, a rental platform, an advocacy group and a local university. The event will conclude with additional networking time.

Chamber members can sign up for the summit online for $79. The Metro South Chamber has members from Canton and other towns in the region. The price for individuals who are not Chamber or NEREJ members is $149, with discounts available for corporate groups of three or more. Businesses or organizations interested in sponsoring the summit should contact the NEREJ.

The NEREJ and MSCC Summit will be on Friday, October 16, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, at The Shaw’s Center in Brockton.
