Canton organization to offer Irish music masterclasses

Canton residents will have the opportunity to attend three free masterclasses on Irish music, song and dance at the Irish Cultural Centre of Greater Boston this September.

The Irish Cultural Centre in Canton is offering these sessions in partnership with the Irish World Academy of Music & Dance and the University of Limerick. Masterclass teachers are either faculty or students at these institutions.

Dr. Niall Keegan and some of his students will teach the two-hour class, starting at 6:30 pm, on instrumental traditional Irish music. Participants should have some experience playing this music style on any type of melody instrument. Dr. Sandra Joyce will offer a two-hour class on traditional Irish song, starting at 7:30 pm. Joyce typically sings English language pieces in the Irish tradition. The class is open to singers of all levels, as well as Irish song enthusiasts regardless of their musical experience. Nora Costello and Margaret Nalley will teach a two-hour class, starting at 8:30 pm, on Irish dance. The session will cover a range of styles and techniques and is suitable for dancers of all levels.

All three masterclasses are free to attend. Those planning to attend should register in advance on the Irish Cultural Centre’s website. Organizations often use Graphic Design Services to create digital Flyers for this type of event.

All three masterclasses will take place on Friday, September 9, 2022.
