Canton museum to run paper airplane contest

The Paul Revere Heritage Site in Canton is holding a paper airplane competition for pre-teens as part of its STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) initiative this fall.

Participants can sign up individually or in a team of up to four people. Teams will compete in two separate events, one judging flight distance and one judging accuracy. There will be a construction demonstration from 2:15 pm to 2:45 pm. Participants are encouraged to research paper airplane techniques ahead of time, but they may not have their smartphones accessible during the competition. Teams will have opportunities to test their planes until 3:30 pm, when construction will stop and the final competition will take place.

Teams need to sign up online by November 10. The cost is $10 per team, and each team needs to have a least one pre-teen member. Other team members can be of any age. Local museums often use flyer printing services to advertise their special events. All materials will be provided, including paper, Tape, weights, and rulers. Snacks and beverages will be served. Additional details about the contest rules and judging are available on the registration page.

The “Top Fun” Paper Airplane Contest will take place on Sunday, November 12 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Copper Mill Hall at the Paul Revere Heritage Site.
