Canton historic site to host dog Halloween parade

The Canton Pooch Parade is taking place at the Paul Revere Heritage Site this October.

The parade is also a costume contest. Dog owners should dress their pets in their best Halloween costumes, and they are encouraged but not required to wear costumes themselves. Dogs can compete for several prizes, including overall best in show. Prizes will also be awarded for the best costume and best personality, with contestants divided into categories for small, medium, and large dogs. The parade route is about a quarter of a mile, and a map is available online.

The parade will start at 10:30 am. Attendees can vote for their favorite dogs between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm either online or at the information booth on site. Awards will be presented at noon. Vendors selling food, drinks, and pet items will open on Revolution Way during and after the parade. Shop owners often use banner printing services to promote their businesses at this type of event.

Owners can sign their dogs up on the Paul Revere Heritage Site’s website. The cost to participate is $25 per dog, which will be donated to the Heritage Site and other local nonprofits. Participants will need to provide a photo of the dog in costume the week before the event.

The Canton Pooch Parade will take place on Saturday, October 26 from 10:00 am to noon.
