What's Happening in Burlington, MA…

New restaurant coming to Burlington

An eatery that has enjoyed success in other Massachusetts locations is coming to Burlington.

Karma Restaurant is a full-service establishment that serves upscale Asian dishes. There are other Karma Restaurants in Westford, Andover, and Concord, all of which are doing well.

The Planning Board granted a site plan and special permit for the restaurant, which will allow them to move into the remaining vacant space in the premises formerly occupied by Uno in the Burlington Mall. At present, a 3,962 square foot area is occupied by Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana. Karma will take over about 5,200 square feet of the space, as well as a mezzanine it will use for storage and offices, plus a seating area outside for use in the warmer months.

There is no entrance planned directly from the mall into the restaurant. Instead, an entrance door/vestibule will be built, and the façade of the building will be enhanced so the new door will blend in with the rest of the structure. The restaurant also confirmed it will replace a 1,000-gallon grease trap with one three times larger.

Karma’s owner, Zhen Guo, said he builds on previous experiences to create new and improved ones for diners. Karma will serve traditional Asian dishes from China, Korea, and Japan, as well as sashimi and sushi. Guo expects to be open by year’s end. Promotional pens are often distributed by new businesses like this for building brand recognition.
