The Addison Gallery of American Art on the campus of Phillips Academy in Andover has some special exhibits throughout July and is holding several special events next month and that month as well.
Poster printing is often used to spread word about such events and exhibits throughout a town and surrounding communities.
Robert M. Walker Curator, at the Addison Gallery, will lead a tour and discussion of the exhibition “A Long Arc: Photography and the American South since 1845.” This will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday June 13. The exhibit itself has over 200 works that examine the place of the South in the history of photography and explore the significant impact of the region on the evolution of the medium.
Director of the Addison Gallery, Allison Kemmerer, will leading a discussion of the projects of photographic work which Todd Webb and Frank Todd created during their travels in 1955 across the United States. This event will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday July 17. The Memorial Hall Library in Andover contributed to both talks. The exhibit itself brings the pictures of the two photographers together to capture a singular vision of America.
Another exhibit is “Laying the Foundation: Exploring the Nucleus of the Addison’s Collection” and explores the extensive collection of pieces that comprise the founding collection of the Addison.
All current exhibits run through Wednesday July 31.
