Parking lot construction completed in Andover

The parking lots owned by the town of Andover behind Old Town Hall are substantially completed.

Curbing work, paving, and work on surrounding roadways of Lot 1, which is behind Old Town Hall, have been finished. Line striping was also done on Lot 1 and Lot 2 across Bartlett Street.

Additional work that needs to be done is related to the performance and community gathering space behind Old Town Hall and Lot 1. Trees also need to be planted, as well as other landscaping elements.

The town of Andover initiated the Downtown Parking Improvement Project in 2022. The goal was to enhance the lots behind the Old Town Hall. This scheme has significantly reconfigured these lots to better accommodate the flow of vehicles and pedestrians and improve drainage structures. The project will also create a centralized gathering space behind the historic building that can be used for live performances, outdoor dining, and other community programming.

The project also included 225 spaces for on street and off-street parking, and 10 spaces for handicapped parking. Enhancement and replacement of curbing and sidewalks on both sides of Barnard Street and Park Street were included.

Banner printing is often used at such sites to keep residents informed of updates and their completion dates.

Tropeano Construction was the contractor for this project.
