New Year brings new classes to Andover

The Andover Department of Community Services recently released its Winter/Spring Booklet for 2015 of classes and programs.

Several fitness classes will be offered for adults, including Gentle Yoga or Zumba, as well as classes to help with making heathier lifestyle choices, such as learning about essential oils, or cooking classes focusing on how to cook soup, breakfast, and appetizers.

Adults can also join leagues such as coed softball and men’s basketball or coed pickleball, which is a paddle game like tennis, ping pong, and badminton but played on a smaller court. This is a sport in which people can participate irrespective of their age or physical ability.

There will be many choices for children as well, ranging from traditional dance and sport classes, to synchronized swimming, touch rugby, or a language and arts class. The Kids’ Corner will offer programs for children between the ages of two and seven, focusing on fun, socializing, and learning.

Youth summer classes include golf school, a pee-wee tennis academy for children between the ages of four and six, girls’ soccer academy, and a creative engineering workshop at which kids can design and build simple or complex models of a vehicle, robot, or building.
