New office opens in Andover

A new Division of Collaborative Support Services, composed of a new diversity and inclusion office and the existing Office of Wellness and Recovery, is now operational in Andover.

The name of the new office will be DIVERSE – an acronym standing for Diversity, Inclusion, Values, Respect, Support and Education.

Banner printing companies are often used to announce such new offices as displays and other materials can be posted throughout the community to be informed about such new efforts.

Working with the Andover Police Department as its community support coordinator, Sobhan Namvar, is the head of the office and reports to Andrew Flanagan, the Town Manager. Flanagan said that Namvar is passionate about and committed to building this program from the ground up. Flanagan expressed his confidence that Namvar will be able replicate the success the town has had in wellness and recovery in his development of programs on inclusion, equity, and diversity in the community.

Namvar said that he has been dedicated to improving the lives of individuals, families, and children and expressed his excitement about the opportunities and potential this new role for making an even greater contribution to the community. He is a licensed clinical social worker, and has worked in Lexington, Chelsea, Boston, and New York in that role, before he joined the police department in Andover in 2016.
