The Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce, which covers towns such as Andover, recently announced its Gingerbread House Contest for the Children’s Fund.
Those who wish to participate in this annual event need to follow some rules with regards to their donations. The structures should be supported on a base no larger than 24 inches by 24 inches and have to be made primarily out of gingerbread. All the ingredients need to be edible. In addition, only battery-powered lights are allowed.
Overall appearance, craftsmanship, degree of difficulty, originality, and creativity are the criteria on which the houses will be judged. There will be seven categories in which the houses will be judged—Professional Baker, Adult, Adult Group, Youth Group, Child, Teen, and Family. Ribbons for the top three houses will be given out in each category. There will also be a People’s Award, and the winner of this prize will receive a $100 gift certificate for shopping in the Exeter area.
The fee to enter a gingerbread house is $20 and the proceeds of the event will benefit the Children’s Fund of the Chamber. This find supplies warm winter clothes for needy children in the area.
The Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce is most likely turning to flyer printing to promote this event in the area, which will take place on December 3, from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, at the Congregational Church.
