Astronomy presentation to come to Andover area

The North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club (NSAAC) will be holding a Star Party and Lecture in North Andover later this month. Residents of nearby Andover with an interest in astronomy may not want to miss this event.

The event will start with an astronomical history lecture in the Stevens Center of the North Andover Historical Society on Massachusetts Avenue, followed by a telescope viewing. The lecture will be presented by Brewster LaMacchia in the Worden Theater.

The doors will open at 7:30 pm with the presentation beginning at 8:00 pm. Seating is first come, first served. Attendees are encouraged to bring bug spray and water and wear comfortable shoes.

Following the lecture, there will be a short walk up Academy Road beginning at 8:30 pm to the viewing area where the telescope is. Volunteers from the NSAAC will handle the viewing with high powered telescopes.

Such unique and special events can be promoted throughout a town and neighboring communities with flyer printing.

NSAAC meets on the first Friday of the month, except for July, at a center located at 10 Elm in Boxford. Meetings consist of a short business meeting followed by an entertaining presentation on a subject of general interest to the community of amateur astronomers. The meetings are designed to be informative and fun.

This event will be on Tuesday, May 27.
