Earth Day and Arbor Day events will be held in Andover this year.
The theme for Earth Day will be Invest in Our Planet. The day will feature the Earth Day Cleanup, which is sponsored by the Town of Andover Department of Public Works.
The Cleanup will enable teams of volunteers to select a trail or neighborhood to clear of trash and debris. Participants will check in at the Municipal Services Building on the day of the event and will be able to pick up Bags and gloves for the day. This event will take place on Saturday, April 22 from 8:00 am to noon.
The annual Arbor Day event will take place about a week later across from the Andover Animal Hospital at 234 Lowell Street. The MC for the event will be Paul Sanborn, Superintendent of Forestry, Parks and Grounds, and Cemetery. There will be a proclamation and discussion of the history of Arbor Day and information about trees. Tree plantings will also take place and attendees will receive seedlings of serviceberry and ginkgo to plant in their yards.
Helpers at this event include the crew of the Andover Forestry Division and the Andover Garden Club. It will take place on Friday, April 28, beginning at 10:00 am. Such special events are often promoted throughout the community with poster printing, remembering to reuse or recycle the Posters after use.
