Andover to hold photography contest

An inaugural photo competition is being held by the Andover Village Improvement Society (AVIS). The theme of the contest is Andover’s Treasure - A Visual Journey of AVIS.

Those of all skill levels and ages are encouraged to enter the contest. There will be $150 awarded to one grand prize winner, while the first place winner in each of seven categories will be given $75. The categories include plants and flowers, landscapes and rivers, abstract, AVIS Works, black and white, and birds, bees, and wildlife.

The entry fee for the contest is $15 per digital image. Each person can enter no more than three photographs. Those who make entries in the Novie Eye category will have no entry fee. All entries need to have been taken on or after January 1, 2019.

In the run-up to events, local Print shops can assist with printing Flyers and other materials with more detailed information about such contests and their rules.

John Hess, president of AVIS, said that for many years, volunteers of AVIS have worked to maintain that Andover has its protected spaces. He added that it is now time to seek photographs that are demonstrative of the properties and iconic sites that come under AVIS’s nme.

Shutterbugs still have plenty of time to submit their entries, as the contest runs through Friday, November 15.
