Former “The Late Show” bandleader Jon Batiste, along with Mannie Fresh, will headline the 2024 Louisville Urban League Gala in May.
Batiste, who has had 20 Grammy nominations and is a five-time winner, is a multi-instrumentalist who performed at the 2024 Grammy Awards. After having worked with Stephen Colbert for seven years on “The Late Show”, Batiste began a solo music career.
Prior to his Urban League Gala gig, Batiste will be busy with shows slated in late February at the Ryman Auditorium, a stint in March at the Montreux Miami Jazz Festival, and a performance in April at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. His appearance at the Urban League Gala, which is part of the run up to the Kentucky Derby, will be followed in June with performance at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival.

Mannie Fresh, who will be headlining the event with Jon Batiste, is a DJ, rapper, and American record producer who became the chief production force behind the empire that is Cash Money Records. Upon its formation in 1991, Fresh was the label’s sole in-house producer, and from 1998 until his departure in 2004 he was credited with almost all of the label’s output.
Nicknamed “Mardi Gras Louisville,” the 2024 Louisville Urban League Gala will be held at the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center on May 1.
