Think spring at National Farm Machinery Show
The first harbinger of spring, the 2023 National Farm Machinery Show will be taking place next month, displaying the latest in agricultural equipment, technology, and services.
At this yearly four-day event, farmers can meet with experts and vendors in the industry to learn about field preparation, seeding, planting, crop protection and harvesting. It will feature everything from new information about the basics to the most up-to-date technology including GPS-based tech and artificial intelligence.
Attendees at these events typically return home with an assortment of business cards and brochures garnered from various vendors.
This is always a big event that draws a large crowd; this year the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville is expecting to contain over 1,500 booths and welcome about 250,000 people visiting from February 15 to 18.
Visitors can see and purchase Kentucky crafts, attend seminars, and watch the Championship Tractor Pull – the country’s premier tractor-pulling event. The tractor pull has become the primary entertainment draw of the show and takes place each evening from 7:00 to 10:00 pm, plus a noon pull on Saturday.
The approximately 200 tractor pull participants compete for grand champion bragging rights as well as $300,000 in prize money, with drivers coming here from on average 30 other states and Canada, as well as some from overseas.
While the pulling competitions will be taking place in Freedom Hall, the Center’s South Wing will be offering a wide assortment of toys, art, and Kentucky Proud products. Visitors can enjoy a miniature display fair and sample a variety of foods.
