This year’s Kentucky Derby will be a little early with the race scheduled for May 2 and once again, for the third year in a row, Levy Restaurants’ Senior Executive Chef Robert Lopez will be leading the event’s culinary program.
The larger the venue the more useful banner printing services can be.
Prominent on the menu will be Louisville-inspired classics along with modern-day variations on old favorites all using seasonal, fresh ingredients that are locally sourced. Chef Lopez said:
"The menu for the 152nd Run for the Roses features flavors that will be recognizable to returning guests, including delectable honey bourbon sauces and brown sugar caramelization, while incorporating surprise components to ensure on-track diners are immersed in the full experience."
Seven celebrity chefs will be presenting their culinary offerings at various areas throughout Churchill Downs such as the Spires Terrace, the Sports Illustrated Club SL and Turf Club among other locations.
The size of the culinary operation at the Kentucky Derby is staggering. At least 17 kitchens across the track will supply 25 dining rooms with food for more than 100,000 guests; the logistics involved are complex to say the least.
Over 100 Levy chefs will make the trip to Louisville to support the iconic annual event.
