St. Joes annual fundraising picnic goes virtual for 2020

St. Joseph Children’s Home recently issued a press release announcing that the 171st St. Joe’s Picnic will be a virtual event.

Additional information in the release revealed that the event’s usual raffles will take place online this year. Virtual sales will take place as well as a live karaoke contest. As is customary, opportunities will be available for dropping off donations for the children.

Flyer printing services typically play a big part in advertising a wide range of festivals and fundraisers.

Grace Akers, St. Joe’s CEO, explained that the decision to not hold an in-person picnic was to prevent exposure of volunteers and attendees to COVID-19, many of whom would have been considered to be in a high-risk group. Akers explained in the public release:

“We are hopeful the community of picnic goers will step up to help us again this year by joining us in our new, virtual Picnic adventure.”

She hopes that the citizens of Louisville will donate the money they would have in other years typically spent on games and food. St. Joe’s is raising funds via virtual events running up to August 7 and 8, the picnic weekend.

St. Joseph Children’s Home provides children removed from homes due to neglect or abuse with assistance through child development programs and foster care. Additional information concerning the virtual picnic will be disclosed in the weeks leading up to the event.
