What's Happening in Louisville, KY…

Repurposed Bardstown Road properties to open soon

Two Louisville properties that have long been abandoned are getting a new lease of life; one as a restaurant and the other as a 21-unit hotel or short-term apartments.

Once a former Highlands Police Station, 1300 Bardstown Road, as well as the adjacent former Louisville Ballet property, will soon be known as the Bellwether Hotel and restaurant. The City of Louisville was the previous owner of the corner lot and, despite the renovations, the historic appearance and nature of the buildings have been preserved.

Working with a brochure printing service involves not only the design of the brochures themselves, but also advice on the best methods of distributing them.

According to one of the developers, plans were filed with the city for 21 units containing kitchenettes at the site, with square footage per unit averaging around 350. A developer was quoted as saying:

"The hotel will be the gateway for up to 50 new visitors a day to explore the Highlands and support neighboring businesses, many of which are locally owned."

Described as a “low-touch hotel,” the Bellwether Hotel will provide its guests with a modern, one-of-a kind experience. Each of the rooms are designed to pay homage to individuals whose names have become well-known in the area, most of whom are local historical figures, along with notable Highlands thoroughfares.

The Bellwether is anticipated to become operational later this month.
