What's Happening in Louisville, KY…

Psychiatric conference offers new findings to professionals

The Forging the Future in Psychiatry and Mental Health Conference is taking place in Louisville next month, presented by the Kentucky Psychiatric Medical Association.

The conference is aimed at health professionals and those involved in organizations that advocate for people with mental illnesses. Many of the speakers will be reporting on new research findings in fields like mental health, neuroscience, and psychiatry, in ways that should interest those involved in these sectors.

Topics of discussion are set to include innovation in healthcare, transgender issues, sleep medicine, and drug addiction. Some of the speakers who will be participating in this year's conference are Mary Helen Davis, Fiona M. Doherty, and Kinton Rossman. Included in the conference fees are breakfast, lunch, and coffee breaks.

With this being a networking opportunity for many of the professionals in the Louisville area, business cards will likely be exchanged by those who find they have similar interests. No doubt handouts will accompany many of the speakers, and these might be provided by local stationery printers.

The event will take place at the Louisville Boat Club on Friday, March 18 from 7:30 AM - 5:15 PM. Fees are $120 for Kentucky Psychiatric Medical Association members, $140 for nonmember physicians, $100 for non-physicians, and $55 for students or residents. Contact the association at 502-695-4843 for more information about the conference.
