The combination air show and fireworks display, deemed one of the country’s best, will take place on the Waterfront in Louisville on April 20. The all-day event culminates in fireworks accompanied by and choreographed with musical selections. The whole event will include Derby season elements, with this year’s original Thunder soundtrack incorporating “Call to the Post”, among other tunes.
In addition to 2024 being the 150th “Run for the Roses”, it also marks Thunder Over Louisville’s 35th year. Kentucky Derby Festival, Inc. president and CEO Matt Gibson said about Thunder:
“It’s an annual rite of spring in Kentucky, a signature attraction for tourism in Louisville and the Bluegrass, and an event that unites our entire community along the banks of both sides of the Ohio River."
