What's Happening in Louisville, KY…

Louisvilles West End to receive multimillion-dollar grant

To be used for the advancement of opportunity and equality, a $6m investment is being made by one of the city’s largest companies.

Recently, Yum Brands and KFC U.S. announced a five-year plan to invest $6m to fight inequality and elevate Black educators, entrepreneurs, students, and social change agents. A new release explains that multiple community initiatives and organizations will benefit from the promised funds, among which are included:

• The funds given to the Academy of Music Production Education and Development to enable the expansion of its full-service family support
• The establishment of a fund by the community development organization “Local Initiatives Support Corporation,” providing Louisville-based Black nonprofits and entrepreneurs with an eye toward expanding opportunities on Louisville’s west side.
• The development of a program by the private Louisville Historically Black College, Simmons College of Kentucky to recruit and train additional Black teachers to work in Jefferson County Public Schools.
• A nonprofit, Evolve502, which assists JCPS students from underserved communities in pursuing a post-secondary education by providing scholarships.

Many organizations devoted to assisting the public find that they need the services of print shops to educate the public on what they can provide in the way of services.

The money given to the Louisville community is part of its earlier announcement of investing over $100m between now and 2025 for the promotion of equity and inclusion around the globe.
