What's Happening in Louisville, KY…

Louisville to be served new pickleball and tennis shop

February will see a new shop for pickleball and tennis lovers opening in Louisville’s Westport Village.

The 1,400 square-foot MatchSet store will be the company’s first Kentucky location and will be located in the space left vacant by Louisville Tile Design Center. MatchSet already operates three other locations, all of which are in Ohio – MatchSet Dayton, MatchSet, Columbus and MatchSet Cleveland. Banner printing services are often involved in the launch of a chain’s new location.

The store will sell a variety of pickleball- and tennis-related supplies, including apparel, paddles, racquets, strings, bags, grips, balls, and shoes. A news release from Crawford Square Real Estate Advisors’ leasing associate Jacking Hollingsworth said:

"With the rise in pickleball popularity and multiple nearby tennis facilities, we believe that MatchSet will be a popular new addition to Westport Village and must-visit destination."

Pickleball has not yet taken off in Kentucky to the extent it has in most other states. Pickleball Union ranked Kentucky 48th among the 50 states in which to engage in the sport. That ranking was based on variables such as the amount of rain, temperatures, and the number of pickleball courts available. Only 104 courts can be found in the Bluegrass state and only one upcoming event for pickleball players is scheduled in Kentucky.

Despite the state’s low ranking, a number of new pickleball venues are planned around Louisville, so Kentuckian fans will be hopeful of an uptick in its ranking in the not too distant future.
