What's Happening in Louisville, KY…

Louisville native to support non-profits via foundation

Rapper and actor Jack Harlow has always been up front about being proud of his roots here in Louisville and has recently announced his plan to give back to his hometown.

Harlow has in the past made serious donations to local groups such as the Center for Women and Families, AMPED, Louisville Urban League, Grace James Academy, and Metro United Way. The Jack Harlow Foundation has now been officially launched to, as the announcement put it:

“. . . serve as the Louisville, KY native’s primary philanthropic vehicle to reinvest, uplift and support organizations aiming to make the city that raised him a better place.”

The first Kentucky-based non-profit organizations to receive funds from Harlow’s newly launched venture were revealed at the same time as his foundation’s announcement and are Centro Latino, Adelante Hispanic Achievers, Sponsor4Success, and Russell: A Place of Promise.

As a thank-you, the city of Louisville decided to honor Harlow with a “Hometown Heroes” ceremony and banner printing was used to honor him as a Louisville native who has continued to give back via national or international platforms while showing pride in the city.

At the end of April, Harlow released “Jackman,” his third studio album, and celebrated by going to several schools in the Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) district, including Atherton High School, his alma mater. The cover of “Jackman” shows Harlow in front of an alley located in his old neighborhood.
