Louisville music festivals in running for coveted Pollstar Awards
Louisville has made the “Music Festival of the Year” list for the upcoming 31st Pollstar Awards, not just once but twice.
The Music Festival of the Year category is limited to festivals taking place in the United States and having an attendance of less than 30,000. Festivals are judged on their commercial and artistic success and delivering the most rewarding experience for the artists and the fans.
Making the list were Forecastle and Bourbon & Beyond, which makes Louisville the lone city to land twice on the list of nominees.
Festivals are promoted in a variety of ways; however, banner printing is perhaps the most popular because it reaches the most people and can serve as a continual reminder for weeks ahead of time.
Forecastle is a three-day annual event in July. The outdoor music festival attracts thousands to see and hear the national acts it features. Bourbon & Beyond takes place each year in September and hosts some of the best known names in bluegrass, folk music, rock and roots. Plus, there are many food items featuring bourbon as one of the ingredients.
The Pollstar Awards are a “feather in the cap” for everyone involved in executing the festival and a promotional boost for the city itself. The awards ceremony will be held in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton on February 6.
