Louisville keeps it local this weekend
The Buy Local Fair is just around the corner in Louisville, with many vendors and participants getting ready to attend this popular Kentucky event.
The Louisville Independent Business Alliance hosts the annual event and strives to preserve and promote local, independently owned companies in the area. Teaching the public the value in being patrons of local businesses is another focus for the group.
This year, the fair will feature over 170 booths representing artists, craftspeople, local companies, community organizations, farmers, and food and beverage vendors.
Fairs of this type generally use the services of local printers to handle the need for banner printing. Banners are often used throughout the outdoor event to provide guidance to various locations within the venue.
Keeping attendees in shape is a goal this year, as four fitness instructors from local companies provide a Zumba demonstration. Bookshelf, a local band, will be joined by Karston Nelson, Field of Kings, and Small Time Napoleon to keep the feet moving and smiles coming as they perform.
An Iron Chef-style cooking event will be a main highlight for this year’s event. RYE on Market will defend the current title against Decca; a new challenger. Following a cook-off, a team of judges will choose the winning creation.
The Buy Local Fair will take place at the Louisville Water Tower Park this Sunday, May 18, from 12:00 noon until 6:00 pm. Admission is free.
