Louisville honored by IFEA for Derby Day festivities
It is official – Louisville knows how to throw a party; the city has been ranked as having among the world’s best overall festival programs, as well as for its Kentucky Derby Festival.
The International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA), a worldwide supporter of event and festival professionals, has recognized Louisville as a ‘2015 IFEA World Festival & Event City’. This designation was based on the more than 100 festivals and events held in Louisville each year.
Louisville once again found itself among an elite group of cities. This is the city’s second time receiving a ‘World Festival & Event City Award’; its inaugural designation was presented in 2010. Louisville’s annual Kentucky Derby Festival also garnered top honors in the “best overall festival program in the world” category.
An international panel, comprised of industry experts, judges the city entries. Other recipient cities this year were spread as far and wide as Australia, the Netherlands, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates.
A thumbs up from the judges means lots of good publicity for the cities, who with the assistance of brochure printers can use the honor they have received from the IFEA to entice additional conventions and tradeshows.
Louisville received its World Festival & Event City Award in Tucson, Arizona at the luncheon held for 60th Annual International Festival & Events Association’s Hall of Fame Awards.
